Lighting
This project began when Control Media Design was called in to complete a Crestron Lighting System for a local builder. The system had been started by a local installation company not authorized or trained by Crestron.

After a review of what had been done by the original installation company, we ordered missing lighting components and began work on the system. A few long days later, the lights were able to be operated from switches, rather than from the main circuit breakers, which is how they had been left by the other company.

Audio / Video
From that point, the system has grown to include 24 zones of distributed audio and 16 zones of distributed high-definition video via Crestron hardware. There were no equipment rack locations originally specified, so we were very fortunate in the client giving up a large basement closet in which to install racks. One rack faces into the Home Theater; the other into a small equipment area behind the theater. To reach the rack locations, much of the wiring for the A/V system had to be extended or replaced.

Video sources include multiple high-definition DVR cable boxes, high-definition Tivo units (with cable cards) and a ReQuest Multimedia DVD Server. There are also multiple local DVD players for times when the client decides to use a DVD rental service. Any of these sources can be selected on any TV in the residence via wired or wireless Crestron touchpanels or remotes.

Audio sources include Crestron XM tuners, FM tuner and ReQuest Multimedia Music Servers.

Home Theater
The client was interested in adding a small home theater in a basement room, so we designed and built an enclosure for the front speakers (left / right / center and subwoofers). The main speaker cabinets (three of them) were made of 1/2" and 3/4" MDF, multi-layered, dadoed, glued, screwed together and then covered with a black fabric. We estimated their combined weight to be over 500 lbs.

We complimented the speaker cabinets by building a facade to go around the Stewart screen and continue on the remainder of the wall. The client-supplied theater seating includes ButtKicker transducers.

Phone System
Also installed was a Panasonic phone system with various corded and cordless handsets around the residence.
