Asked by an existing client to do some work in a new vacation home, Control Media Design visited Kennebunkport, Maine to install a modest Crestron-based music system and surround system.
Audio / Video
The distributed audio system consists of two Crestron CNX-PAD8's and two Elan digital amplifiers to minimize heat.
Sources include two Crestron XM satellite radio tuners, a Crestron FM radio tuner, a ReQuest Multimedia multi-zone music server and two music server zone units. A Crestron CP2E control processor is the 'brain' of the system and keeps everything running smoothly. In case of power hiccups, a rack-mounted Panamax battery back-up takes over and maintains power to the critical components.
Equipment for the small surround system is all housed in the equipment racks, which keeps clutter in the Family Room to a minimum. On days when the weather keeps everyone inside, the family is able to watch high definition cable TV or DVD movies. Control is through a Crestron wireless touch panel.
Touch panels located throughout the home allow for easy access to the music sources.
